Even a life coach like me needs breakthroughs! Today, I would like to share something personal with you. I just returned from a trip to my beautiful home town, Hamburg in Germany, and caught myself telling the same old negative story: that my heart is torn between Hamburg and London.
I love Hamburg very much and envy its citizens who enjoy the amazing quality of life it provides. At the same time, I am resistant to moving away from London, a city that has offered me so many opportunities.
My friends know this already; I have created a drama story around this apparently unresolvable conflict, whether I would be happier in Hamburg or London. I love both cities and can only have one. When I have these thoughts, they generate a heavy and melancholic feeling, sometimes even a sense of anxiety that I may miss out on something by living in the wrong city.
This way of thinking is, of course, not in line with my own Masterful Living® approach that I teach my life coaching clients. It was time to clean up my own act.
I decided to change the story from “my heart is torn between two cities” to “my heart is shared by two cities”. By changing just those two words I turned my drama story into an abundance story. The new story is equally true, but feels so much better.
The way we think determines the way we feel and the reality we experience. Masterful Living® means that we become conscious of this process and take care how we think and speak.
Do you have a story like mine? Can you create a simple shift by looking at your story from another angle?
