About Hans

Coaching shaped by 25 years of corporate experience.

Hans Schumann, ICF-accredited executive and career coach in London

After 25 years as a lawyer in private practice and banking, I know the City from the inside: the opportunities, the pressure and the quiet question many high achievers eventually ask themselves.

“Is this really the life I want?”

That question led me to retrain as a coach. Today I help senior professionals across London’s Square Mile answer it and build careers that help them thrive.

I bring a structured, insight-driven approach to career and leadership coaching, and I’m among the most highly accredited coaches in the UK.

I’m also the published author of Falling in Love With Your Job — a book about creating more excitement and fulfilment in your career, available on Amazon.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Career coaching is a confidential, one-to-one partnership that helps you build a working life that genuinely fits you. Together we work on the real causes behind a challenge, such as confidence, motivation, decision-making, stress or direction, rather than just the symptoms. Most of my clients leave with greater clarity, renewed confidence and a clear, practical plan for what comes next.

The terms overlap and many coaches use them interchangeably, but each has a different focus. Career coaching is about your direction: where your working life is heading and whether it still fits. Executive coaching is about supporting senior leaders with the particular demands of operating at or near the top. Leadership coaching is about your capability to lead others, from a newly promoted manager to an established executive. In practice, a single piece of work often touches all three. I offer all three approaches, drawing on my 25 years of corporate experience in the City.

I work with senior professionals, leaders and business owners from a wide range of industries through both career and executive coaching. The core industries I serve are technology, financial services, HR, law and other professional services firms across London’s Square Mile. My clients are typically well established in their careers and ready to up their game: to lead at the next level, navigate a crossroads or find deeper fulfilment in their work.

We begin with a free discovery call to understand where you are and where you want to be. If we decide we’re a good fit for each other, we’ll agree a bespoke coaching plan around your goals. I ask for a minimum commitment of 10 sessions, and we’ll meet regularly — in person in London or by video. You’ll leave each session with clear, practical actions, so the journey isn’t only what happens in our sessions but very much what you do between them.

Both. I coach in person in London from venues near Bank, Moorgate and Clapham, convenient for professionals in the City. I also offer online sessions by video call for clients anywhere in the UK or internationally. Many clients combine the two to fit coaching around demanding schedules.

Therapy often looks back to heal the past; coaching looks forward to build the future. As your coach I help you set goals, unlock your potential and move towards the career and life you want, drawing on 25 years of corporate experience in the City rather than a clinical model. If deeper therapeutic support would serve you better, I’ll say so honestly.

It depends entirely on your goals. I ask for a minimum commitment of 10 sessions, and often that’s all that’s needed. Some clients enjoy the process so much that they work with me over several months or longer — for deeper, lasting change, or to move on to new goals and challenges in their careers. We’ll agree what’s right for you at the outset and review as we go.

Fees depend on the programme we design together, which we’ll discuss before you commit. The best place to start is a free, no-obligation discovery call: we’ll talk through your situation and explore whether we’re the right fit, with no pressure to continue. I also offer a trial coaching session for just £90 — a great way to experience working with me before you commit to a longer journey. My coaching packages start at £1,800 for ten sessions, and the more sessions you buy, the lower the per-session price. See my pricing page for standard options, or we can create something more bespoke for you.
