In this short clip I explain what personal coaching is.
A coaching session consists of a deep and powerful conversation in which I ask you questions that will help you gain clarity and find solutions for your challenges and ambitions in life, whether that’s your career, relationship, emotional balance or any other area in your life.
It’s a bit like a therapy session but rather than focussing on emotional issues from the past, the main focus in coaching is on goals that you want to achieve in the future. And my particular coaching is style is very action and solutions orientated.
A coaching conversation is very different from talking to a friend or family member. People who know you will already have a set view on who you are and often they have their own agenda. Rather than letting you find your own solutions, they are most likely to advise on the basis of THEIR own values and what THEY think is best for you. That’s not necessarily what is tight for YOU!
As a coach I am trained to leave my own opinions, values and experiences out of the coaching session so that they do no taint your own processes of self-discovery. Instead I will ask you powerful and sometimes challenging questions that will enable you to look at your life from new perspectives and thereby generate new options and insights for you. If you never had coaching before, its likely that you haven never heard these questions before and never been listened to so attentively.
It’s hard to explain and the best way is to try a session.
